Time for our annual fall announcement, an art donation from The Collectif to the Township via the generosity of its artists.
How it works The Township’s Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee selects a work based on anonymous electronic images submitted by us — we let them choose. This year seven works were offered for consideration by our members.
The winning work, View of Glengarry Hospital in the 80’s by Paulette Poirier, was announced at our AGM on 19 November. The artwork will be presented to the Township Council on 24 November. Shortly thereafter it will join five previous winners at the Sandfield Centre. The 2023 winner, the maquette for The Senate mural, hangs in Town Hall.

Paulette said of her painting, “I grew up on Park Street, and I remember taking a picture of the hospital. When I started painting years later, I pulled out the photo and got to work. This painting hung in my parent’s home until a few years ago when they both passed.”

Stop by the Sandfield Centre to see Alexandria’s Little Louvre!
Beautiful! That is going to look great on the Collectif’s Wall. Congratulations, Paulette!
