I enjoyed seeing the sketches by Barbara Lehtiniemi and took a chance on sharing my memories of Italy this spring.

The sketches are rather spontaneous, even putting myself in the sketch on blank pages (5.5″ x 7.5″) in a travel journal.

On site, I drew in pencil and finished off with a Sharpie back at my hotel.

I will certainly have stronger memories of the trip because of the 24 drawings and my notes. More fun than photos.

I love these in-the-moment evocative captures! I agree that the sketching traveller engages more with the scene as they examine details that otherwise would be forgotten by the time they turned the next corner. Thanks for sharing your travels and lovely sketches!
