Collectif Challenge: 5Nov2024 City /Ville

By Lynne Ayers A couple of years ago I did a series of paintings depicting my impressions of various cities. These two were included in my solo show at the Alexandria Library in 2019

The following two have never been shown:

By Claudette Vaillancourt Sending a few of the cities I’ve visited…so different yet so alike.

By Susan Latreille What impresses me the most, from an artistic viewpoint, about cities (as well as downsizing to towns and villages) is the architecture of old and older buildings. One doesn’t need to travel to old-world Europe to find evidence of beautifully artistic architecture in our very young country.

The first two photos are from Warkworth, Ontario and the 3rd and 4th photos are from Belleville, Ontario.

By Milo Smith Here are some mostly modern shots of Montreal.

By Yvonne Callaway Here is a sketchy city with a significant appreciation of nature.

By Hélène Céré La ville

By Bobi Leutschaft Poitras This is an early painting (my 6th!) called Signs of Life. If you zoom in, you’ll find a coke can, banana peel, car, bicycle, robin, baby carriage, and a woman on a balcony. It’s a small painting – 8 x 16 inches.

By Susan Irving I have not been spending much time in my studio lately, so this challenge inspired me to get with it and actually do something!

When I started out by using crayons and acrylics, I really had no idea exactly where it was going. So I just began playing (and getting quite sticky in the process).

In France, there's a saying:
You always take from your godparents.
My godmother was serious.
And so was I.
When I was 10 years old, she gifted me
A manyfold present.
A train travel.
A stay with her in Paris.
Museum visits.
And most importantly
The Jungle Book on an Extra-Large screen,
As cinema theaters were on the Grand Boulevards.
It doesn't show on the picture, but believe me.
I was the happiest. True story.
