Collectif Creativity: 26Sep2024

by Elaine Delves

When my sister, Anita, redecorated her spare room she decided on a ‘vacation theme’. We had gone shopping to look for something she could hang on the wall over the bed.

After a while she admitted that what she really wanted was a painting similar to the photo I had taken of her and my husband while we were vacationing in Delray Beach, Florida. Only she said, ‘I don’t want to have us in the picture.’

I knew exactly what she wanted so I said I would keep looking, but instead I went home and thought I’d try my hand at painting her what she wanted.

I did show it at the Pioneer Museum in a Collective Show a couple of years ago, but I did give it to her once the show was over. My husband made her the frame from some old wood and it now hangs in her spare room above the bed.

She was very pleased with it and somehow means more than a pic bought at Walmart. 🥰

  1. This is a wonderful story. A genesis of a work is always interesting. Congrats on the painting. Thanks for sharing the pictures too.
