You’ve heard the refrain, “So, where do you get your ideas?” Answer: EVERYWHERE.
I was very taken with a fishy wind chime in a charming global crafts shop years ago, so brought it home.

The wooden fish were brightly coloured, three-dimensional, smile-inducing. The charm didn’t wear off, so I thought these fish could model for me.
They generated whimsy as I caught them in several ways. They are suspended from real wire laced through the canvas, just above a No Fishing pictogram. In the middle distance a parrot fish is leaving / passing through with a stick and a tramp’s bundle over her shoulder.

The delineation between sea and sky isn’t clear – is it there? The fish are kinda floating in space – how, why? Don’t know. But I find the painting as smile-inducing as the wind chime!

Very whimsical and charming. I love the parrot fish who looks like she is running away from home.

Thank you, Susan. Was great fun responding to the canvas whimsically, ignoring some aspects of logic

I love the fish. Thanks for reminding us Yvonne that everything around me can be a source of inspiration. It’s nice to see the process and the outcomes.

The whimsy I’ve come to expect from a Callaway. Always something just a little (or a whole lot) different.
