This is a portrait of one of my cats, done in watercolour pencils on paper.  She passed away many years ago. Her name was “Fluffer”. She was found with 4 kittens. She had been neglected in a horse barn and was unwanted and very matted.

She was a Maine Coon cat, a breed that is usually very much valued.  However she was not wanted or  valued, although she proved to be an excellent mouser. She was about to be euthanized along with her kittens.

We rescued her, cleaned her up and brushed her, found homes for the kittens, kept her and loved her dearly.   One of my friends described her as “an elegant Tootsie Wootsie”.  And she was, indeed, an Elegant Tootsie Wootsie.

  1. Fluffer is altogether lovely, but I’m particularly impressed with the detail in the cloth upon which she rests.

  2. Thanks Susan. It’s interesting to discover the origin of a painting. Indeed, she was an elegant Tootsie Wootsie. I love the cloth too.

  3. Thank you all! The cloth is a tapestry that I still have. It is becoming a bit old and frayed, but I still love it. It has been not only a tablecloth, but also a wall hanging.
