Ed. A few weeks ago we encouraged members to share their accolades – the editorial team at The Collectif think it encourages others, lets folks know there are exhibitions and art competitions out there that they could/should participate in.
Then received this email from member Lynne Ayers. Her opening line sums up the feelings of many.
To post … or not. (self promotion is hard!)
Light Space Time is an online gallery that started in 2010 offering several themed juried competitions throughout the year. While it might be considered a vanity thing, it does provide an opportunity to dip into the sphere of juried shows and to experience affirmation and rejection in a kind of anonymous way. One goes up against hundreds, sometimes over a thousand other submissions from around the world. Recognition adds to one’s resume.
The artwork submitted to the competitions is judged based on these elements of artistic expression:
- Interpretation and the clarity of the theme to the viewer.
- Creativity and originality of the depicted theme.
- Quality of artistic composition and overall design based on the theme.
- Overall impression of the art. What is the effect of the artwork in general and as a whole? Overall, does the artwork stand on its own as a complete and outstanding work of art?
As for making this submission as a post to Collectif Creativity, I hesitated because I prefer to be in the background and tooting one’s own horn is not always viewed well, but I think we should encourage each other to do so, to celebrate each other’s successes in the spirit of being in a supportive, like-minded group.
So, on that note, here is a shameless selfie pat on the back. Approximately 280 works selected from 737 entries from 24 countries in the Light Space Time Abstracts Art Exhibition
[Ed. Let us help deflect some of that blushing.] Lynne received a Special Merit and a Special Recognition nod! As their website points out, “The gallery also included Special Merit awards and Special Recognition awards for outstanding art. Many of the artists in either of these groups could have easily been included in the upper tier of our winners, as their art was also exceptional.” Whoo hoo, Lynne!

We’ve said it before, “Screw your courage to the sticking place!” Macbeth, Act 1, Scene 7. What are you doing to share your creativity?
You did well Yvonne. Thank you for sharing Lynne’s accomplishment. Hopefully it will inspire more of us to step in. I’m not there yet ahahah… One day… This is amazing, Lynne. Congratulations.
