We’ve lived to see another year With all its ups and downs It seems the world is mostly run By dictators and clowns And everyone who’s anyone Has had their lips well sealed But on the brighter side of things The ozone layer’s healed
We’ve rediscovered life is cheap On all sides of a war While pleading for humanity The very fabric tore The World Bank has announced that all Accounts are overdrawn But there's good news - less trees are cut Down in the Amazon
We’ve realized what the earth can do When it has had enough And so much of its beauty now Is crammed with useless stuff Our precious space is cluttered up And we see fewer stars But hey, in 20 years or so We’ll all have gas-free cars
We’ve held on to our sanity Albeit by a thread And crossed our fingers peace and love Will rise up from the dead We head into another year With hopes that things improve We stand on splinters, ’24, And wait for your first move
Nice one…Happy New Years All.
