My Secrets

My secrets formed a union
And marched upon my chest
They wanted recognition
So they shouted and they pressed
So strong upon my body
That I found it hard to breathe
No matter how I tossed and turned
My secrets wouldn’t leave

I rose and took my secrets
To the kitchen by the sink
I mixed them well with turpentine
And then began to drink
I felt them burning in my throat
And listened to them scream
I felt my secrets melt away
And lift my self-esteem.

I took some Tums® to ease the burn
That ravaged me inside
Went back to bed only to find
Their clones knew where to hide!
Alas, my secrets plague me still
So with nothing left to lose
I’ve ratified their union
And am living off their dues
