October’s challenge is City / Le défi du mois octobre est Ville.
By Margaret Stewart From the farm, this is my view looking east one chilly January 2023.
The sky has its own journey of clouds, the misty horizon, the snow at the base of the fields
and then the darker snow getting closer to the house; the sunlight hitting the bush and
poles and then leading up to the cedars at the barn . Then the pine trees, so many colours and highlights.
Sometimes it’s daunting to start a painting with sunlit morning fresh snow. Best would be to work small sketches, first of colour and make notes. Hmm.
Ever learning : )

By Susan Latreille I’ve become rather enthralled with my new hobby as a watercolourist and when I saw the Challenge for September was Celestial I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
The watercolour technique book that my daughter gifted me had a night sky example. It was quite simple but I knew how I wanted to embellish it. I think (hope) that I was successful in my interpretation of one of the ultimate celestial shows – The Northern Lights.

By Lynne Ayers This was my farewell shot of Europe. After many visits and wonderful memories, I don’t expect to go back.

By Yvonne Callaway All the world’s a stage . . . for watching the sky, again & again.

By Susan Irving The first one is called, Sky over Lake Nippissing.

The second one was my attempt at a 1960’s type psychedelic album cover.

The third one is quite tiny and is called Shooting Star.

Birds are celestial
The sun was generously shining.
On the flat stone, Cinnie was lazily laying.
His buddy, Teddy, dreamingly watching.
Two white egrets above the canopy, flying.
With a high-pitched tone Teddy said:
I’m telling you: those creatures are celestial
Look how gracious they are.
They’re from divine design.
Cinnie’s raucous voice replied.
Absolutely not, my friend.
They are ground creatures.
Wait until they land.
Both slowly turned their heads
As the majestic birds
Picked their quiet spot
By the Delisle River.
Without any words,
The debating friends
Stood on their paws.
And ran.
Too late.
The egrets were gone.
Birds are celestial.

By Claudette Vaillancourt Here are my photos of celestial events.

Taken at 5:00 am …an unusual happening for me!

Arriving in Fort Lauderdale by ship.

Sunset over Montreal Olympic stadium.

A huge flock of snow geese over a farmer’s field almost blocking the sky.

Beautiful sun rays.
By Milo Smith Here is a shot of a full moon. Sort of celestial.

Thanks for sharing your awesome drawings, paintings and pictures. Isn’t it a great way to keep going in your busy morning? C’est superbe. Merci pour les défis mensuels !
