Here are a couple of rocks I painted as gifts for friends.
I use regular acrylic paints and apply several coats of a good outdoor varnish to protect them if they are to be used as garden decorations. Fortunately (or not) Glengarry has a more than adequate supply of rocks!

Thank you, Allison! I sketch my cats a lot too, but the little “darlings” seem to know when I am closely watching them and they will suddenly switch positions. And even if it is ever so slightly, it throws everything off, so it really IS a challenge. For the portrait on the rock, I worked from a photo, and I suppose I could do the same for depicting my own cats, but for some reason I enjoy the challenge of attempting to capture them live.
