I painted the background blue on this canvas months ago. I put it away at that point because it wasn’t clear to me what I wanted add. Two weeks ago I took it out and put in the shadows. Then I was stuck again.
What really happened was that I became afraid of ruining it, which happens to me often. Last week I steeled myself and decided I would just go for it. I added the lighter blue streaks and then, reluctantly, the red. I loved it!
After tweaking it until I was satisfied, I posted it on Facebook. It sold within a couple of hours – first painting I’ve ever sold straight off the easel. Now to varnish and keep it safe until delivery…
