Covid Creativity: 14Feb2021

by Erica Taylor

All the ceramic pots are sold, more on the way, paintings and sculpts await development, grant apps need writing… but for now here’s one of my daily sketches from earlier in the year, during the ‘first wave’, to share.

Now that we are deeply back into winter as well as guarding against the ‘second wave’, this is once again a common view from my end of the couch during quiet moments. It shows time spent online, and us wrapped in blankets, surrounded by comfort-seeking cats, until it’s time to go do farm chores.

A slightly different view of the Night Milker, whom some may remember from the painting a Brent’s Place in 2020. Grateful for those quiet, safe moments in our less-than-perfect but cosy house. Stay safe.

  1. It’s been a while since I’ve done pencil sketches. These are well done! Love how you’ve captured certain moments in your day. Thanks for sharing your art!

  2. These are all marvellous Erica! So we’ll observed and sensitively rendered.
I was particularly struck by the three cats drawing. Love the composition, repetition of forms, the graphic shapes. Truly superb!
    Thank you for sharing.
