Covid Creativity: 6Nov2020

by Olga Harhaj

I have two paintings I would love to share with the group that I just recently completed. One is a painting of a scene from Cooper Marsh that I painted from a picture I took while I was there in the late spring this year. It was my first time visiting Cooper Marsh since moving to South Lancaster late last year and I decided to take some pictures while walking through the area hoping to find the right composition for a painting.

When I took the picture the lighting was just right as the sun was shining through the trees creating contrasting shadows and lighting up the boardwalk ahead. So I took the picture and saved it. The painting was sold recently.

Cooper Marsh, oil on canvas, 11 x 14 in.

The second painting is from a picture I found on Pixabay, a site where you can find many free and royalty-free stock images. I loved the fall forest scene showing a light at the end of the path, which made me think about the situation we are all in with Covid. Showing that there is hope for the future and we will all get there. I titled this one ‘The Light at the End of the Path”

The Light at the End of the Path, oil on canvas, 16 x  20 in.

Collectif members, send an image (or a few) of very recent work to cagac.ca@gmail.com with up to 100 words describing what you did, materials used, inspiration, etc. Maybe share how you’re feeling & how creativity helps. We’d like an informative, inspiring show & tell. Writers, send us poetry, lyrics, a short piece or excerpt.
