This pandemic is becoming a real bore. However, we do have the change of seasons to liven things up.
I got this image of a red maple leaf in a stand of birch on Frog Hollow Road.

The full colour images is nice but it was suggested to me the red would look good on a black and white background. Easy to do in Photoshop.

The red leaves do “pop” more against the black and white background. At least that is how it seems to me!

To me the red pops out just fine in the first photo. It seems almost subdued in the second photo. Also like the balance between red and yellow. I’ve been amazed at the splendid show of autumn. More beautiful than ever I remember it. Brenda

Beautiful! I love that we have these amazing Fall colours.
I like both versions but I think, if I were looking for a wall hanging, I would choose the B&W – it really does “pop”.
Question: did you alter the colours of the maple tree at all? In version 1 the maple has a definite orange cast; in the B&W the maple has an almost scarlet cast.

I had to increase the saturation to get the red fully back. That seems to have changed the hue to a more scarlet or less orange cast. Not sure why that happened as I did not change the hue.

I like the b/w version best – changes it from just a (very nice) photograph to something with more of a statement.
