I was watching a segment on the news about keeping kids happy during the past few months of isolation.
I thought back to when my children were small and isolated through chicken pox. They got hooked on watching Wizard of Oz. They loved it and it made them very happy. We watched it over and over again.
This is what inspired me to carve this particular leaf: the happiness it can bring to a Family during this pandemic and the smiles it can put on people’s faces.

The detailed figures look so real…your dexterity is amazing…and on a leaf! So very nicely done, Jen!…SandraSent from Samsung tablet

I was delighted to see this at the Covid Creativity Art Exhibit at the Glengarry Pioneer Museum in Dunvegan. Certainly this is a creative way to bring back pleasant memories, but imagine what care Jen McDonald must have taken as she cut into that leaf! Today is the last day of the exhibit. If you haven’t been, do go. If you’ve already been, a second visit is worth it. I’ve seen it twice and found the second time around as enjoyable as the first time. There aren’t as many pieces in the exhibit as previously, but you will still find variety and talent on display. And this is not the only piece that Jen McDonald has offered us.

Lovely story Jen. I was wondering what had inspired this piece. It definitely brought a smile to my face when I saw it at the museum show. It is very well executed. It takes great skill to convey a complex figure in silhouette and you conveyed these four characters perfectly and with affection.
