During this time of social distancing and isolation I thought it would be a good idea to remind folks that we need to reach out to one another. My original song “That is that.” appears on my debut album, Spare Skirt, as the final, wrap-it-all-up track. 

To release the song as a single, I needed a video. My idea was that the video could be watched by people from all places and walks of life and see themselves in it. It needed to be simple, fun, to the point. So I drew stick figures all shapes and sizes, drew and coloured globes and landscape scenes…With some help from Bobi Leutschaft (drawing, and cutting out hearts!) and my son, Alexis (stick figures and shooting video) I had all the pieces and extra hands I needed to create my piece.

The message in “That is that.” is simple yet profound. We need each other. It’s a fact. We are social creatures that need interaction with other people to help us live healthy and meaningful lives. The quirky song has a simple melody and simple ukulele accompaniment, and I’ve made the chords and lyrics available on ultimateguitar(dot)com for anyone who’d like to give it a try!

It was exciting creating and releasing this video and I’m equally thrilled to share it with you here. 

I hope “That is that.” brings a smile to peoples’ faces, reminding them that they’re not alone, and that the world is full of loving people.
