Covid creativity: 11Jun2020

By Brenda Kennedy

I continue to do portraits based on images people send  me and I also like to paint my food. Nothing new here in subject matter except that I’m experimenting with frames within frames.

Friend

The portrait is painted with oil on grey gesso on a cream background on a 14″x18″ wood panel.

Snack

Snack is painted with oil on a turquoise background on a white 12″x 12″ wood panel.

Neither of these paintings has anything to do with the pandemic. The portrait of my friend happened because of his losing over a hundred pounds, resulting in the total transformation of his appearance and especially his face. The avocado and beet hummus on a rye-crisp has no deeper meaning than my liking of that particular colour combination and, of course, enjoying the taste. The turquoise table was a bonus. It made a good background, which I often need help with.

Collectif members, send an image of your very recent work to cagac.ca@gmail.com with up to 100 words describing what you did, materials used, inspiration, etc. Maybe share how you’re feeling & how creativity helps. We’d like an informative, inspiring show & tell.

Writers, send us poetry, lyrics, a short piece or excerpt.

  1. You did a great job on my paintings. They look almost professional (for being photographed with an old ipad from above on a table outside under a tempo) thank you, Brenda
